The 60m is a sprint distance rarely contested outdoors by senior athletes. Since its removal from the Olympic programme after 1904, senior athletes will only compete over the distance at the highest level in the biennial IAAF World Indoor Championships.
To be valid for an outdoor record (only applicable in Oceania), a time must be run with a wind reading of +2.0 or less.
For 60m, electronic times are required. Some historical times that predate this requirement may be hand-times (h). Where it is not readily evident that a historical hand timed record or electronic time is faster, both will be listed. [I believe any time given with a single decimal is hand timed but unless marked it is not explicitly expressed.]
World Masters only maintain World Records for the Indoor 60m and not for the Outdoor 60m, which is event mainly specific to Oceania.
