Lower Hutt 10km Road Race

A flat 10km for which we use the Hutt Valley Marathon Clinic's function room at Huia Indoor Swimming Pool as a base. Showers are available and light refreshments are offered post-race - both free of charge.

Originally run as part of the Athletics Wellington Centre Road Champs, a Ludlum Park course was used from 2002 to 2004. Until 2014, the course ran out and back along Oxford Terrace. Concerns over the busyness of the main road triggered a relocation to the Hutt River stopbank paths.

The race now starts just south of the riverside carpark off Daly Street in Lower Hutt and follows the Hutt River stopbanks. From the start, the course goes north for 2.5km to a turnaround and back to the start, proceeding south for 2.5km to another turnaround and back to the start. 5km competitors only complete the north out and back section.

First run on 14th November 1981 where 70 people competed, the walking race was added in 1993.

The next event was to be 12 September 2021 but the course has now been assigned on that date to the Hutt Marathon event so cannot take place as planned. We are considering our options for when this event could take place in 2021.

These lists will be expanded as we go back through the archives.

NB: for 2009 and prior, due to being confined to available information on competitors' ages, the age-grades percentages have been calculated using the first year within five year bandings, as opposed to individual years, using the 2010 standards.

The 2010 standards have been used using specific athlete ages 2010 to 2014. From 2015, the new WMA standards are used.
