South Island Masters
10000m Track Walk

A 10000m track walk was held sporadically at the Olympics until 1924. After that all walking events were held out of stadia, on road.

With the difficulty in establishing a course on which to hold a10km Road Walk, a 5000m Track Walk event has become the replacement to programme. The 10000m Track Walk was used instead of the 5000m Track Walk.
