The decathlon consists of 100m, long
jump, shot put, high jump, 400m, short hurdles, discus, pole
vault, javelin and 1500m. It was first contested at the
Olympics in 1912 and has been a regular event since.
The heptathlon consists of short
hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200m, long jump, javelin and
800m. It has been a part of the Olympics since 1984.
Both have been a part of the World
Masters Athletics Champs since 1989.
To be valid for a record, the events for
which wind readings are required must produce an average
(sum of readings divided by the number of those events) wind
reading of +2.0 or less.
