5km Road
Walk |
| The
5000m track walk is an event that has never appeared at the
Olympics. Track walking as a whole has only made sporadic
appearances at that level, with 3000m 3500m and 10000m
distances appearing up to 1924. After that
all walking events were held out of stadia, on road.
With the difficulty in establishing a course on which to
hold a 10km Road Walk, a 5000m Track Walk event has become
the de facto replacement to programme, though there has also
been the occasional 5km Road Walk or 10000m Track Walk. |
