Wellington Half Marathon Champs

The Wellington Half Marathon Champs are always held as a subset within an existing half marathon event that is also open to the general public. There are two events that rotate in providing this role and this arrangement appears to be locked on as an ongoing arrangement.

In an even-numbered year, the event is held as part of the Wellington Marathon event, organised by the Wellington Marathon Clinic. This usually takes place on the last or penultimate Sunday in June. The course is an out-and-back course from the Stadium that goes around the bays - very exposed to the wind.

In an odd-numbered year, the event is usually held as part of the Pelorus Half Marathon, organised by Hutt Valley Marathon Clinic. The course starts and finishes at Marine Parade in Petone and after a meandering tour of Petone goes on an elongated loop out along the Lower Hutt river path to Taita and back. In 2019, it was hosted by the Wairarapa Country Marathon event for the first time.

The next event will be in 2024.
