Dorne Cup
The Dorne Cup is a cross country race run clockwise around Trentham Memorial Park.

It was first held in 1925 and has had various locations over the years including Petone (on road and tracks) and Silverstream.

It's mostly flat but for going over the stop banks and there are sometimes a couple of small jumps to tackle in the first half of each lap. The second half requires going through the stream, usually twice in quick succession.

The speed of the course varies each year depending on the amount of mud. A dry year presents the opportunity for fast times; in a wet year someone will slip over, especially during a stream crossing.

The M35-49s and M50s run two full laps for 8km. The older men and MW run a short first lap for 6km, meaning they only cross the stream in their second lap.

The race is organised by Hutt Valley Harriers and usually held on the second Saturday in June.

The next event will be held in 2024.
