3000m |
|
The
3000m has not been contested at the Olympics since 1924 for
men. It was an Olympic distance for women from 1984 to 1992
and was dropped when women's distances were standardised to
be the same as for men. It was
only held at the first two WMA Champs. Curiously, it was
only offered to men in 1975 - even though the 5000m was
available to both men and women. For 1977, women were
offered the event instead of the 5000m and the men were
given the 5000m instead of 3000m.
From 1979, both sexes ran the 5000m
and the 3000m was dropped. |
