| Cross
country is one of the outdoor events that an organiser can
choose to include as part of the Indoor Championship
programme. The event is raced over a distance of 8km. From
2019, the over 70s run 6km.
It is not a mandatory event to be held but has been
contested at every World Masters Indoor Championships so far
and is distinguished from the Stadia (Summer) Champs by by
being a winter race. Individual cross country results are
here. The first three finishers per country
within each age group count towards the teams. The team
ranking is determined by the aggregate of the three times.
Where a country does not have three entrants within an age
group, they can opt to drop up to two competitors from older
age groups down to form complete teams. This cannot be done
if a complete team already exists. The decision to do this
must be logged by team managers prior to the race
(presumably to prevent strategic DNFs by competitors). |
