South Island Masters
1500m Walk |
| The
1500m Track Walk was added to the standard programme from
2022 to give walkers a third option, rather than a day with
no events as was the case previously.
The event has never appeared at the Olympics, where the
3000m and 3500m made appearances in 1920 and 1908. A 10000m walk was held sporadically until 1924. After that
all walking events were held out of stadia, on road.
