Oceania Masters
Half Marathon
The half marathon is one of the events within the Champs that offers something to the more traditional harrier athlete, beyond the conventional track and field programme on which most of the competition is based. It is the last event of the championships, blending slow performances from tired athletes with good performances for those patient enough to save themselves from other events.

It was not offered as an event until 1994 (unless in 1988, for which no results have been found) but did not become a part of the regular programme until 1998.

A team component exists where the first three athletes from each country within age bands are counted in the teams and aggregate times are used to determine placings. The age-bands are M30-49, M60-64, M65+, W30-54 and W55+. The bandings are tweaked to take into account the athletes that year to optimise the number of teams.
